viva las vegas?

2002-05-22
i came back from my trip to vegas on friday and slept for about two days. i think i'm actually i was with about 18 people from family (my father's side). most of us came from hawaii but 2 sets of aunties and uncles met us from california and my sister came with her husband from phoenix. but most of my time was spent with my uncle drinking foot long margaritas and his own li-hing tequila concoction that he brought in a plastic squeeze bottle from home. he is such crack up.

i wish i could say more about my trip to vegas but theres not much to say. we shopped. we gambled. we drank. oh and we ate at a fabulous mexican restaurant at the MGM grand. The best thing about the trip was seeing my sister and her husband whom i haven't seen in about five years.

after four days i was ready to get the hell out of there. i don't understand why so many people from hawaii move to that place. its hot. its dry. its ugly. its depressing. its a place where people go to party and gamble. thats it.

the venitian was a cool hotel though.

oh and i went to the museum there. it has artwork from the guggenheim (sp?). gauguin, van gough, and such. that was nice.

other than that, bleh.

i was just struck with the memory of my tutu, bless her heart, 81 years old, probably about 100 pounds, recovering from cancer, sitting on the bed in her suite where we all gathered singing "i'm drinking champagne, feeling no pain!".

thats the kind of stuff i'm going to remember.
